Conquer the Gauntlet puts on one of the most extreme obstacle races on the planet. No, really. When we first heard what CTG was all about, we just had to work with them. In our initial meeting we talked through “what would be cool” which then became, “what we need.” CTG is a newer company in this industry, so a new website wasn’t going to be enough. We had to come up with a plan to get their website in front of potential runners. We soon realized that social media was going to play a crucial role in our approach.
When advertising on Facebook you have to assume that the majority of users will be visiting your site from a mobile device. According to analytics, CTG had an average of 92% mobile viewership. With that in mind, we built the website mobile first. Meaning no matter what, it had to look and perform flawlessly from a cell phone. In web, images sell not text. Our design is very image heavy, but we used careful optimization to make sure it loads quickly for mobile users. The end result is a site that allows runners to thumb through galleries, watch video, and register for a race easily from any device.
